gwk at the HMI 2021: Efficient solutions for CO2-neutral plastics production

Industrial Transformation and Carbon-Fee Production are this year’s buzz words of the digital edition of the HANNOVER MESSE 2021 (HMI) trade fair. At its digital stand, gwk Gesellschaft Wärme Kältetechnik mbH, a company of the technotrans group, will present efficient solutions for CO2-neutral plastics production. As a system supplier for the entire cooling and temperature control process, gwk will present a variety of CO2-reducing technologies at the joint stand of North Rhine-Westphalia between 12 April and 16 April. Among these products are highly-efficient cooling and temperature units as well as products for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, medical equipment and for the intermediate storage of vaccines.

"With our innovative solutions, we set new standards on the market. Based on the motto "Our planet deserves it", we show how the carbon footprint can be reduced in an economic manner during the production of plastics products," explains Ralf Radke, head of business development of gwk.

The company operating under the technotrans umbrella brand and with more than 50 years of experience will form a competence team in the field of innovative cooling and temperature control solutions together with Reisner Cooling Solutions GmbH. The specialist will present its company and the extensive product portfolio over a total of five days during the HMI 2021 trade fair. The digital trade fair format offers customers and other interested parties the opportunity to network and speak to gwk experts either live or on a preferred date and time to discuss particular challenges and potential solutions.

gwk presents highly efficient cooling and temperature control units

The highly efficient temperature control units of the eco.line series are a particular highlight. On average, the units, which are equipped with centrifugal pumps and pump speed control systems, achieve energy cost savings of over 50 per cent compared to the previously used technologies. The cooling technology sector is another area in which gwk showcases the ECOtec.chiller, a particularly energy-efficient and environmentally friendly new product made by the technotrans group. The modular cooling unit, which has been jointly developed by various technotrans companies, stands out due to its 30% lower energy consumption and its refrigerant quantity which is reduced by up to 60%.

Efficient products for the production of storage batteries

"The production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles requires special ambient conditions with the temperature and atmospheric moisture being particularly important," explains Radke. With its own low-temperature concept, gwk presents an efficient solution for the production of storage batteries at the HMI trade fair. In addition, systems with high service temperatures are also necessary for the production of the energy storage devices. This is another solution that gwk will present at this year’s HMI trade fair in the form of temperature control units for special calender systems working at temperatures of up to 200°C.

Innovative concepts for the fight against COVID-19

The clean room suitability of temperature control units for the production of medical plastic parts is of utmost importance during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The systems, which gwk will present at the HMI trade fair and which are rated as ISO class 6 and 7 units, can be used for the fight against COVID-19. The gwk temperature control units, which are suitable for use in clean rooms, can be equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasonic flow measurement systems and enable the reliable, continuous monitoring and documentation of supply circuits, e.g. of injection moulding machines.

As far as the storage of vaccines is concerned, gwk cooperates with Reisner Cooling Solutions to offer a highly efficient low-temperature storage concept for temperatures down to -80°C. The ECOtec.coldstorage system has been designed for large quantities, can be operated with its own power supply and requires approximately 67% less energy than deep-freezers with a comparable storage volume. In addition to the intermediate storage of vaccines, the ECOtec.coldstorage system can also be used for other industrial or medical applications requiring a constant room temperature of down to -80°C.
