ING Bank Poland selects solutions from signotec

After an extensive tender and selection process, ING Bank Śląski S.A. has chosen signotec GmbH as its partner for a comprehensive e-signature solution. For this purpose, it relies on the hardware and software solutions of signotec and has been using the web-based signature solution signoSign/Universal in its branches since August 2020. The introduction of a total of 350 signature pads of the signotec Delta followed since November 2020, so that they will be usable for all customers by the end of the first quarter 2021.

Combining the progress of digitalisation with existing security standards – that is the current challenge for most institutions in the banking sector and also in many other sectors. Especially in banking, digital signature solutions must offer the greatest possible legal security. Whether for opening checking or savings accounts, granting powers of attorney, or making deposits or withdrawals – electronic signature solutions can be used everywhere, making processes more efficient.

The concept of signoSign/Universal has proven to be the most practicable solution, as it allows the greatest depth of integration into the existing banking system. Thanks to the modern REST-API interface, the solution can be integrated into existing banking applications in such a way that documents can be signed web-based and without media discontinuity. The signature will be ISO and eIDAS compliant and embedded in the document according to the requirements for advanced electronic signatures. The entire document is thus reliably protected against changes.

The advantage of the handwritten electronic signature with a signature pad was obvious during the selection process of the technology: The personal signature represents a first-class declaration of intent, is always available and cannot be lost or forgotten. In addition, it represents a familiar process with the highest possible level of acceptance, offers protection against haste and can be used in a legally secure manner.

Signing at ING is performed on the signotec Delta signature pad, which has clearly prevailed over simple pen displays in terms of user-friendliness and technical integration. The signotec Delta is designed for applications where it is important that A4 documents can be entirely displayed. The technology used here is unique; unlike other devices on the market, the signotec Delta is a real signature pad and not a simple monitor extension. The differences in the security of the biometric features captured with the signature are significant: For example, the forensic data can be encrypted with up to 4096 bits by a public RSA key already during the signature performance in the pad. The Delta is therefore the ideal solution for banks and all companies where security, performance and simple technical integration play a key role.
